As part of the government's commitment to fostering a strong research and scientific publication ecosystem, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) through the Centre for Higher Education Funding and Assessment (PPAPT) held the "Workshop for Accelerating the Completion of Scientific Articles in Regional III International Journals" event. This event will take place from September 22nd to 24th, 2025, at the Aveon Hotel Yogyakarta (by Daphna International) and will be attended by 75 recipients of the Indonesian Education Scholarship (BPI) selected from Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Yogyakarta State University (UNY), UIN Sunan Kalijaga, and the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta. This activity is also conducted online to accommodate students who were not selected for the in-person event. This workshop aims to accelerate the publication of scientific articles resulting from BPI recipients' research in reputable international journals, while also strengthening academic abilities and scientific publication ethics among Indonesian academics.
The event was officially opened by the Head of PPAPT (Dr. Henri Tambunan) after the activity report was delivered by the Head of the FLPPT Division. In his remarks, the Head of PPAPT emphasised the importance of increasing research capacity and scientific publications for scholarship recipients as a form of academic responsibility and contribution to the development of national science. During the three-day event, participants received comprehensive material from competent speakers in their respective fields. Dr. Obing Katubi from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) opened the academic session with the topic "Ethics of Publishing Scientific Articles in International Journals," emphasising the importance of integrity and originality in scientific work. This was followed by an Academic Writing session led by Prof. Dodik Ridho Nurrohmat from the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB), where participants were invited to deepen their understanding of effective scientific writing techniques, systematic article structure, and strategies for navigating the peer review process. The next session featured Prof. Dr. drh. Aris Haryanto, M.Si from Gadjah Mada University (UGM), who discussed Effective Strategies for Achieving Scimago Journal Rank (SJR) Indexation, providing practical insights into journal selection and quality-oriented publication strategies. In addition to the theory sessions, this workshop also provides intensive writing guidance and draft article review by the PPAPT team. Participants are given the opportunity to discuss directly with the mentors and revise the article manuscripts that were previously submitted during the registration process. The activity concluded with a Q&A session to reflect on the participants' understanding of the material and scientific publication strategies.
One of the participants, Dyah Indraswati from Yogyakarta State University, stated that this activity provided great motivation and concrete guidance in accelerating the publication process. "Direct presentations from the experts made us more confident and aware of practical steps to get our articles accepted in reputable international journals," she said. The event concluded with a group photo session and the presentation of appreciation to all participants who committed to attending the activities until the end. The committee emphasised that this activity will serve as a model for sustainable training in supporting the acceleration of scientific publication among BPI recipients. With a collaborative spirit and a drive to excel on the global stage, the Workshop on Accelerating the Completion of Scientific Articles in International Journals is a tangible demonstration of the government's seriousness in producing outstanding researchers and improving Indonesia's position on the international scientific publication map
